Dental anxiety is a prevalent issue that affects a significant portion of the population, leading to avoidance of dental care and subsequent negative impacts on oral health. One promising approach to managing dental anxiety is the use of virtual reality (VR) technology, which has shown effectiveness in various healthcare settings. This thesis investigates the effectiveness of VR technology in the management of dental anxiety and its potential to improve patient experiences during dental procedures. The study begins with an introduction outlining the background of dental anxiety, its impact on oral health, and the importance of finding innovative solutions to address this issue. The problem statement highlights the need for alternative anxiety management techniques in dentistry, setting the stage for the research. The objectives of the study focus on evaluating the effectiveness of VR technology in reducing dental anxiety levels and enhancing patient comfort during dental procedures. A comprehensive literature review in Chapter Two explores existing research on VR technology in healthcare and dental settings, highlighting its benefits and potential applications in anxiety management. The review covers ten key aspects of VR technology, including its impact on anxiety reduction, patient satisfaction, and procedural outcomes. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, detailing the study design, participant selection criteria, data collection methods, and statistical analysis techniques. The methodology section includes eight key components, such as the use of validated anxiety assessment scales, randomized controlled trials, and qualitative feedback collection from participants. Chapter Four presents a detailed discussion of the study findings, analyzing the effectiveness of VR technology in managing dental anxiety based on participant responses, anxiety scores, and qualitative feedback.
