Abstract
Orthodontic treatment plays a crucial role in improving oral health and enhancing the aesthetics of the smile. Traditional braces and clear aligners are two commonly used orthodontic treatment modalities that aim to correct malocclusions and align teeth. However, there is a lack of comprehensive research comparing the effectiveness of traditional braces and clear aligners in achieving optimal orthodontic outcomes. This study addresses this gap by conducting a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of traditional braces and clear aligners in orthodontic treatment. The research methodology employed in this study includes a systematic literature review to understand the current landscape of orthodontic treatment modalities, particularly focusing on traditional braces and clear aligners. Ten key aspects are identified within the literature review, including treatment duration, patient comfort, treatment cost, oral hygiene maintenance, treatment outcomes, and patient satisfaction, among others. The literature review provides a comprehensive overview of the pros and cons of both traditional braces and clear aligners, offering valuable insights into their respective effectiveness in orthodontic treatment. Furthermore, the research methodology outlines the approach taken to compare the effectiveness of traditional braces and clear aligners. The study design involves a retrospective analysis of patient cases treated with traditional braces and clear aligners, evaluating factors such as treatment duration, treatment outcomes, patient satisfaction, and oral health impact. Data analysis techniques such as statistical analysis and qualitative assessment are utilized to draw meaningful conclusions from the study findings. The discussion of findings chapter presents a detailed analysis of the comparative effectiveness of traditional braces and clear aligners in orthodontic treatment. The results highlight the strengths and limitations of each treatment modality, providing valuable insights for orthodontic practitioners and patients. The findings contribute to the existing body of knowledge on orthodontic treatment options, guiding informed decision-making for both clinicians and patients. In conclusion, this thesis project sheds light on the effectiveness of traditional braces and clear aligners in orthodontic treatment. By comparing key factors such as treatment duration, patient comfort, treatment outcomes, and patient satisfaction, this study offers a comprehensive analysis of the two treatment modalities.
