Abstract
The project aims to investigate the impact of social media on mental health among adolescents. Social media has become an integral part of daily life for many young people, influencing their behaviors, emotions, and self-perception. This study will explore the relationship between social media usage and various aspects of mental health, including self-esteem, body image, anxiety, depression, and overall well-being. The research will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data from a diverse group of adolescents. Participants will be asked about their social media habits, the content they engage with, and how these interactions affect their mental health. By examining both the frequency and type of social media use, as well as individual perceptions and experiences, the study aims to provide a holistic understanding of the complex relationship between social media and mental health. Through the analysis of survey responses and interview transcripts, the project will identify common themes and patterns related to social media usage and its impact on mental well-being. It will also explore potential risk factors associated with excessive social media use and provide insights into how young people can maintain a healthy relationship with social media. The findings from this study are expected to contribute to existing knowledge on the subject and inform future interventions and policies aimed at promoting positive mental health outcomes among adolescents in the digital age.
