Abstract
The study investigates the impact of social media usage on mental health among young adults. With the increasing popularity and widespread use of social media platforms, concerns have been raised about their potential effects on mental well-being. The research aims to explore the relationship between social media usage patterns and mental health outcomes, focusing on aspects such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and body image. A mixed-methods approach will be employed, combining quantitative surveys to gather data on social media usage frequency and mental health indicators, along with qualitative interviews to gain deeper insights into individuals' experiences and perceptions. The study will target a sample of young adults aged 18-25, as this demographic is known to be heavy users of social media and also at a critical stage in their mental health development. By analyzing the data collected, the research seeks to identify potential correlations between social media behavior and mental health issues, as well as uncover any mediating factors that may influence this relationship. The findings are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the topic, shedding light on the mechanisms through which social media impacts mental health and offering implications for both future research and mental health interventions. Ultimately, the study aims to provide valuable insights that can inform strategies for promoting positive mental well-being in the digital age.
