Abstract
This research project focuses on the impact of social media on mental health among teenagers. Social media platforms have become integral parts of teenagers' lives, providing avenues for communication, self-expression, and social interaction. However, the excessive use of social media has been associated with various mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem among this demographic group. The study aims to explore the relationship between social media usage patterns and mental health outcomes in teenagers. Through a mixed-methods approach, data will be collected through surveys and interviews to investigate the frequency and duration of social media use, the types of platforms utilized, and the perceived effects on mental well-being. Additionally, qualitative data will be gathered to gain insights into teenagers' experiences, attitudes, and coping strategies related to social media and mental health. The findings of this research will contribute to the existing literature by providing a comprehensive understanding of how social media impacts the mental health of teenagers. By identifying the specific aspects of social media usage that are linked to negative mental health outcomes, this study aims to inform strategies for promoting healthier online behaviors among teenagers. The results may have implications for parents, educators, mental health professionals, and policymakers in developing interventions and guidelines to support teenagers in navigating the digital landscape in a way that protects and promotes their mental well-being.
