Abstract
This research project investigates the impact of social media on mental health among teenagers. The study aims to explore the relationship between social media usage and mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and self-esteem among adolescents. A mixed-methods approach will be employed, including both quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. The quantitative component will involve administering surveys to a large sample of teenagers to collect data on their social media usage patterns and mental health status. Statistical analysis will be conducted to identify any significant correlations between the two variables. The qualitative component will consist of in-depth interviews with a smaller group of teenagers to gain insights into the ways in which social media influences their mental well-being. The findings of this study are expected to provide valuable insights into the complex relationship between social media and mental health in teenagers. By examining both the quantitative and qualitative data, this research aims to offer a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms through which social media can impact adolescents' mental well-being. The results will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on this topic and may have implications for the development of interventions or guidelines to promote positive mental health outcomes among teenagers in the digital age. Overall, this research project seeks to shed light on an important and timely issue concerning the well-being of young people in today's technologically connected world. By examining the role of social media in shaping teenagers' mental health, this study aims to inform strategies for supporting adolescents' well-being in an increasingly digital society.
