Abstract
The use of body-worn cameras (BWCs) by police officers has become increasingly prevalent in law enforcement agencies worldwide. This study investigates the impact of BWCs on police officer behavior and public perception. The research aims to explore how the implementation of BWCs influences the behavior of police officers during interactions with the public and how it shapes public perception of law enforcement practices. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature, this study examines the advantages and disadvantages of BWCs, the potential effects on police officer conduct, and the implications for public trust and confidence in law enforcement. The literature review presents a detailed analysis of previous studies on BWCs, highlighting key findings related to the effectiveness of BWCs in reducing use of force incidents, enhancing accountability, and improving transparency in policing. The review also discusses concerns regarding privacy rights, data management, and the potential for BWCs to alter police-citizen interactions. The research methodology section outlines the design of a mixed-methods approach, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. Surveys and interviews will be conducted with police officers and members of the public to gather insights on their experiences and perceptions of BWCs.
