The use of police body-worn cameras (BWCs) has become a significant topic in the field of criminology, particularly in relation to police-community relations. This thesis explores the impact of BWCs on these relations through a comprehensive criminological analysis. The study aims to investigate how the implementation of BWCs affects the behavior and perceptions of both police officers and community members, with a focus on enhancing trust, accountability, and transparency in policing practices. The research methodology employed in this study includes a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with police officers and community members. The data collected will be analyzed using statistical techniques and thematic analysis to provide a comprehensive understanding of the impact of BWCs on police-community relations. The literature review section of the thesis examines existing research on the use of BWCs in policing, the effects of BWCs on police behavior and community trust, and the potential benefits and challenges associated with their implementation. The review highlights the need for further research to explore the nuanced dynamics of BWCs in different policing contexts and their implications for police-community relations. The findings from this study are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the impact of BWCs on police-community relations and provide valuable insights for policymakers, law enforcement agencies, and community organizations.
