Abstract
This thesis examines the impact of police body-worn cameras on public perceptions of law enforcement and crime rates. The use of body-worn cameras by police officers has become increasingly prevalent in recent years as a tool to enhance transparency, accountability, and trust between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve. However, the effectiveness of body-worn cameras in improving public perceptions of law enforcement and reducing crime rates remains a topic of debate and research interest. Chapter One provides an introduction to the study, presenting the background, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. The chapter sets the stage for the research by outlining the rationale for investigating the impact of police body-worn cameras on public perceptions and crime rates. Chapter Two consists of a comprehensive literature review that examines existing studies and research findings related to the use of body-worn cameras by police officers.
