Body-worn cameras (BWCs) have become increasingly prevalent in law enforcement agencies worldwide as a tool to enhance transparency, accountability, and trust between police officers and the communities they serve. This thesis explores the impact of BWCs on police accountability and citizen trust in law enforcement. The study examines the use of BWCs in various police departments, the perceptions of both police officers and community members regarding BWCs, and the outcomes of implementing BWC programs. The introduction provides an overview of the research topic, highlighting the significance of studying the impact of BWCs on police accountability and citizen trust. The background of the study discusses the evolution of BWC technology, the reasons for its adoption by law enforcement agencies, and the existing literature on the subject. The problem statement identifies the gaps in knowledge and the need for further research on the effectiveness of BWCs in promoting police accountability and building trust with the community.
