The use of body-worn cameras (BWCs) by law enforcement officers has become increasingly prevalent in recent years, with the aim of enhancing police accountability, transparency, and overall public trust. This thesis explores the impact of BWCs on police behavior and citizen perceptions, focusing on the multifaceted implications of this technology in the criminal justice system. The study delves into the effectiveness of BWCs in promoting positive interactions between police officers and citizens, as well as the potential challenges and limitations associated with their implementation. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, offering background information on the adoption of BWCs in law enforcement, highlighting the problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance of the study, and defining key terms related to the research. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review, examining existing studies on the impact of BWCs on police behavior and citizen perceptions, covering topics such as privacy concerns, evidentiary value, officer discretion, and community relations. Chapter Three details the research methodology employed in this study, outlining the research design, data collection methods, sample selection, variables, and data analysis techniques. The chapter also discusses ethical considerations and potential biases in the research process. Chapter Four presents a detailed discussion of the findings, analyzing the data collected to assess the effects of BWCs on police behavior and citizen perceptions, identifying patterns, trends, and implications for practice.
