The use of body-worn cameras (BWCs) by law enforcement officers has become increasingly prevalent in recent years as a tool for enhancing transparency and accountability in policing. This study investigates the impact of BWCs on police-citizen interactions and the perceptions of police accountability. The research is motivated by the need to understand how the adoption and use of BWCs influence the behavior of both police officers and citizens during encounters, as well as the broader implications for trust and legitimacy within the criminal justice system. The study begins with an exploration of the background and context surrounding the implementation of BWCs in law enforcement agencies. It examines the evolution of BWC technology, the factors driving their adoption, and the theoretical frameworks that underpin their potential impact on police-citizen interactions. The problem statement highlights the existing gaps in the literature regarding the effectiveness of BWCs in improving transparency and accountability within law enforcement agencies. The objectives of the study are to assess the effects of BWCs on the behavior of police officers and citizens during interactions, to evaluate the perceptions of accountability among both parties, and to identify the challenges and limitations associated with the use of BWCs in policing. The scope of the study focuses on empirical research conducted within a specific jurisdiction, utilizing a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods to gather data from police officers, citizens, and relevant stakeholders. Significance is attributed to the potential implications of the study findings for policy development, training programs, and community relations within law enforcement agencies.
