Abstract
Point of sale (POS) systems and supermarkets are critical components of retail businesses, facilitating transactions and inventory management. However, these systems are also vulnerable to fraud, which can have detrimental effects on businesses. This research project aims to evaluate the reliability of POS systems and the occurrence of fraud in supermarkets. The study will utilize a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods to gather data on the prevalence of fraud in POS systems and supermarkets. Quantitative data will be collected through surveys and analysis of transaction records to determine the frequency and types of fraud that occur. Qualitative data will be obtained through interviews with employees, managers, and customers to gain insights into the factors contributing to fraud and the effectiveness of current fraud prevention measures. The research will focus on identifying common types of fraud in POS systems, such as skimming, data breaches, and employee theft. It will also investigate the vulnerabilities in supermarket operations that make them susceptible to fraud, including poor inventory management practices and inadequate security measures.
