Abstract
This research project focuses on investigating the impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in crowd control and management at Nigerian airports. The study aims to explore how the implementation of ICT tools and systems can enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of crowd control measures in airports, ultimately leading to improved passenger experiences and overall operational performance. Nigerian airports have experienced significant challenges in crowd management due to increasing passenger traffic and limited resources. The traditional methods of manual crowd control have proven to be inadequate in handling the growing number of passengers, leading to congestion, delays, and potential security risks. ICT offers a promising solution to address these issues by providing real-time data, communication channels, and automated processes to streamline crowd control operations. Through a comprehensive literature review, this research will examine the current practices and technologies used in crowd management at airports globally, identifying best practices and successful case studies. By understanding the existing challenges and opportunities, the study will propose ICT solutions tailored to the specific needs and context of Nigerian airports. The research methodology will involve both qualitative and quantitative approaches, including surveys, interviews, and observations at selected Nigerian airports. By engaging with airport authorities, staff, and passengers, the study aims to gather insights into the current state of crowd control, the effectiveness of existing ICT systems, and areas for improvement. The findings of this research are expected to contribute to the body of knowledge on ICT applications in airport management, particularly in the context of crowd control. By highlighting the benefits and challenges of implementing ICT solutions, the study will provide practical recommendations for Nigerian airport authorities to enhance their crowd management strategies. Ultimately, the successful integration of ICT in crowd control at Nigerian airports has the potential to improve operational efficiency, safety, and passenger satisfaction. By leveraging technology to optimize resource allocation, communication, and decision-making processes, airports can better cope with increasing passenger volumes and ensure a seamless travel experience for all stakeholders.
