Touting and pilfering in Nigerian airports have been longstanding issues that continue to plague the aviation industry in the country. This research project aims to delve into the problems associated with touting and pilfering at Nigerian airports and propose viable solutions to mitigate these challenges. The study will investigate the root causes of touting and pilfering, examining factors such as corruption, lack of effective security measures, and inadequate enforcement of regulations. Through a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods, including interviews with airport staff, passengers, and relevant stakeholders, as well as data analysis of reported incidents, this research seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of the extent of touting and pilfering in Nigerian airports. The findings will shed light on the impact of these activities on airport operations, passenger experience, and the reputation of the aviation industry in Nigeria. Furthermore, this study will explore existing measures and initiatives implemented by airport authorities and regulatory bodies to address touting and pilfering. By evaluating the effectiveness of current strategies and identifying gaps in enforcement, the research aims to recommend evidence-based solutions to combat these illicit activities. Proposed solutions may include strengthening security protocols, enhancing training for airport staff, increasing surveillance technology, and fostering collaboration between stakeholders to create a more secure airport environment. The implications of touting and pilfering extend beyond economic losses and inconvenience to passengers; they also undermine the credibility of Nigerian airports and pose risks to aviation safety and security. Addressing these challenges requires a multi-faceted approach that involves regulatory reforms, capacity building, and public awareness campaigns to discourage touting and pilfering practices. Ultimately, this research project seeks to contribute to the ongoing efforts to improve the integrity and efficiency of Nigerian airports by providing actionable recommendations to curb touting and pilfering. By addressing the root causes of these issues and implementing targeted interventions, the aviation industry in Nigeria can enhance its reputation, ensure passenger safety, and foster sustainable growth in the sector.
