Thesis Abstract

Abstract
Osteoarthritis is a prevalent degenerative joint disease in dogs that can lead to pain, stiffness, and decreased mobility. Current treatment options focus on managing symptoms rather than addressing the underlying cause of the disease. Stem cell therapy has emerged as a promising alternative for treating osteoarthritis by promoting tissue regeneration and reducing inflammation in affected joints. This research project aims to investigate the effectiveness of stem cell therapy in treating osteoarthritis in dogs. The study begins with a comprehensive review of the existing literature on osteoarthritis in dogs, the mechanisms of action of stem cells in tissue repair, and previous studies on the use of stem cell therapy for osteoarthritis in veterinary medicine. Through a systematic literature review, ten key factors influencing the efficacy of stem cell therapy in treating osteoarthritis in dogs are identified and discussed. The research methodology section outlines the experimental design, sample selection criteria, stem cell administration protocol, assessment methods, and data analysis procedures. The study will involve a randomized controlled trial with a sample of dogs diagnosed with osteoarthritis, divided into treatment and control groups to evaluate the comparative effectiveness of stem cell therapy. The findings from the study are presented and discussed in detail in Chapter Four, highlighting the outcomes of stem cell therapy on pain relief, joint function improvement, cartilage regeneration, and overall quality of life in dogs with osteoarthritis. The results will be analyzed statistically to determine the significance of the treatment effect and assess any potential limitations or adverse reactions observed during the study. In conclusion, this thesis provides valuable insights into the potential benefits of stem cell therapy as a novel treatment approach for osteoarthritis in dogs. The significance of the study lies in its contribution to advancing veterinary medicine by exploring innovative therapies that target the root cause of degenerative joint diseases. The limitations of the study, as well as future research directions and clinical implications, are discussed to guide further investigations in this field. Overall, the investigation of the effectiveness of stem cell therapy in treating osteoarthritis in dogs represents a critical step towards improving the management of this debilitating condition and enhancing the welfare of canine patients.

Thesis Overview

The project titled "Investigation of the effectiveness of stem cell therapy in treating osteoarthritis in dogs" aims to explore the potential benefits of using stem cell therapy as a treatment option for osteoarthritis in dogs. Osteoarthritis is a common degenerative joint disease in dogs that can cause pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. Current treatment options for osteoarthritis in dogs are often limited and may not provide long-lasting relief. Stem cell therapy has emerged as a promising treatment modality for various musculoskeletal conditions, including osteoarthritis. Stem cells have the unique ability to differentiate into different cell types and promote tissue regeneration, making them a potentially effective option for repairing damaged joint tissues in dogs with osteoarthritis. This research project will involve investigating the effectiveness of stem cell therapy in treating osteoarthritis in dogs through a combination of in vitro and in vivo studies. In vitro experiments will focus on evaluating the ability of stem cells to differentiate into chondrocytes, the cells responsible for producing cartilage, while in vivo studies will assess the therapeutic effects of stem cell injections on dogs with experimentally induced osteoarthritis. By examining the impact of stem cell therapy on the progression of osteoarthritis in dogs, this project aims to provide valuable insights into the potential benefits and limitations of this treatment approach. The findings from this research could pave the way for the development of novel stem cell-based therapies for managing osteoarthritis in dogs, ultimately improving the quality of life for canine patients suffering from this debilitating condition.
