Abstract
The gut health of companion animals plays a crucial role in their overall well-being and health. Probiotics have gained significant attention for their potential to enhance gut health by promoting a balanced gut microbiota. This thesis explores the role of probiotics in improving gut health in companion animals, focusing on their mechanisms of action, efficacy, and potential applications in veterinary medicine. Chapter One provides an introduction to the study, presenting the background, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. The literature review in Chapter Two examines ten key studies related to probiotics and gut health in companion animals, highlighting current knowledge gaps and areas for further research. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, including the study design, sampling methods, data collection procedures, and statistical analysis techniques. It also discusses ethical considerations, potential biases, and limitations of the study.
