Abstract
Osteoarthritis is a common degenerative joint disease affecting dogs, leading to pain, stiffness, and decreased mobility. Traditional treatment options often provide limited relief and do not address the underlying causes of the disease. Stem cell therapy has emerged as a promising alternative for managing osteoarthritis by promoting tissue repair and reducing inflammation. This thesis explores the use of stem cell therapy in treating osteoarthritis in dogs, aiming to evaluate its efficacy, safety, and long-term effects. Chapter One provides an introduction to the study, presenting the background of osteoarthritis in dogs, the problem statement, research objectives, limitations, scope, significance, and the structure of the thesis. This chapter also defines key terms relevant to the study. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review on the use of stem cell therapy in veterinary medicine, specifically focusing on its application in treating osteoarthritis in dogs. The review covers the mechanisms of action, types of stem cells used, treatment protocols, outcomes, and potential challenges associated with this therapy. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology employed in this study, including the study design, sample selection criteria, stem cell sources, treatment protocols, outcome measures, and data analysis methods.
