Abstract
Urban green spaces play a critical role in enhancing public health and well-being in rapidly urbanizing cities. This thesis examines the impact of urban green spaces on public health and well-being in the context of a rapidly urbanizing city. The study aims to assess the relationship between urban green spaces and various aspects of public health, including physical, mental, and social well-being. Through a comprehensive literature review, this research explores the existing knowledge on the benefits of urban green spaces on public health and well-being. The methodology involves a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of health data with qualitative assessments of community perceptions and experiences. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, outlining the background, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of terms. Chapter Two presents a detailed literature review on the impact of urban green spaces on public health and well-being, covering ten key aspects identified in the existing research. Chapter Three describes the research methodology, including research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, ethical considerations, and limitations of the study. Chapter Four presents a comprehensive discussion of the findings, analyzing the relationship between urban green spaces and public health outcomes. The results highlight the positive effects of green spaces on physical health, mental well-being, social cohesion, and overall quality of life in urban areas.
