Gentrification, a process characterized by the influx of wealthier residents into low-income urban neighborhoods, has become a prominent phenomenon in cities worldwide. This thesis presents an in-depth analysis of gentrification and its impacts on affordable housing in urban areas. The study aims to shed light on the social, economic, and spatial implications of gentrification, particularly on the availability and affordability of housing for low-income residents. The research begins with an exploration of the background of gentrification, highlighting its historical roots and evolution over time. The problem statement identifies the challenges posed by gentrification, including displacement, rising housing costs, and changes in neighborhood character. The objectives of the study are to examine the drivers of gentrification, assess its impacts on affordable housing, and explore potential policy solutions to mitigate its negative effects. Limitations of the study are acknowledged, including data availability constraints and the complexity of the gentrification process.
