Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This thesis presents the development of a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based Decision Support System (DSS) tailored for Urban Planning and Management. The rapid urbanization and population growth in cities worldwide have necessitated the need for effective urban planning strategies to ensure sustainable development and efficient resource management. GIS technology has been widely recognized as a powerful tool for spatial analysis, visualization, and decision-making in urban planning processes. This research focuses on the design, development, and implementation of a GIS-based DSS that integrates spatial data, analytical tools, and decision-making processes to support urban planners and policymakers in making informed decisions. The study begins with an introduction to the research topic, providing background information on the importance of GIS and DSS in urban planning.
