Abstract
Soil erosion is a significant environmental issue affecting agricultural landscapes worldwide. This study aimed to investigate the impact of different land management practices on soil erosion rates in agricultural landscapes. The research focused on evaluating the effectiveness of various agricultural practices in reducing soil erosion and improving soil health. The study involved field surveys and data collection from multiple agricultural sites with varying land management practices. Soil erosion rates were measured using established methods such as erosion pins, sediment traps, and GIS analysis. The impact of practices such as conservation tillage, cover cropping, terracing, and agroforestry on soil erosion rates was assessed. Results indicated that land management practices play a crucial role in controlling soil erosion rates. Conservation tillage practices were found to significantly reduce erosion rates compared to conventional tillage methods. Cover cropping and agroforestry also showed promising results in reducing soil erosion and improving soil structure. Furthermore, the research identified factors influencing the adoption of sustainable land management practices among farmers, such as economic incentives, technical support, and knowledge dissemination. The study highlighted the importance of policy interventions and extension services in promoting sustainable land management practices to mitigate soil erosion.
