Abstract
This study aims to investigate the effect of modern office automation on the productivity of secretaries in government parastatals in Enugu State. The research will focus on examining how the implementation of modern office automation tools such as computer systems, software applications, electronic communication devices, and other technological advancements impact the efficiency and effectiveness of secretarial functions in government parastatals. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Data will be collected through surveys, interviews, and observations to gather insights from secretaries working in government parastatals in Enugu State. The quantitative data will be analyzed using statistical tools to determine the correlation between the use of modern office automation tools and the productivity levels of secretaries. On the other hand, qualitative data will be analyzed thematically to provide a deeper understanding of the experiences and perceptions of secretaries regarding the impact of office automation on their work. The findings of this research are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the intersection of office automation and secretarial productivity, particularly in the context of government parastatals in Enugu State. The results may have practical implications for policymakers and organizational leaders in understanding how to leverage modern office automation tools to enhance the productivity of secretarial staff in government agencies. Additionally, the study may shed light on potential challenges and barriers that secretaries face in adapting to and utilizing modern office automation technologies in their daily work. Overall, this research seeks to bridge the gap in understanding the relationship between modern office automation and secretarial productivity in government parastatals. By exploring the experiences, challenges, and benefits of implementing office automation tools from the perspective of secretaries, this study aims to provide valuable insights that can inform decision-making processes aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of secretarial functions in government organizations in Enugu State.
