Abstract
This thesis investigates the impact of globalization on traditional religious practices, focusing on Tibetan Buddhism as a case study. Globalization, characterized by the increased interconnectedness and interdependence of societies worldwide, has brought about significant changes in various aspects of culture, including religion. Traditional religious practices, such as those found in Tibetan Buddhism, are facing challenges and transformations in the face of globalization. This study aims to explore how globalization has influenced Tibetan Buddhist practices, beliefs, and institutions, and how the tradition has responded to these changes. The research begins with an introduction that provides background information on globalization and its implications for traditional religious practices. The problem statement highlights the need to understand the effects of globalization on Tibetan Buddhism in order to preserve its authenticity and relevance in the modern world. The objectives of the study are to examine the ways in which globalization has impacted Tibetan Buddhist traditions, identify the challenges faced by practitioners and institutions, and explore strategies for maintaining the integrity of the tradition in a globalized context. The methodology chapter outlines the research approach, data collection methods, and analysis techniques employed in this study. Through a comprehensive literature review, the research explores key themes related to globalization, traditional religious practices, and Tibetan Buddhism.
