Abstract
This research project focuses on investigating the impact of purchasing planning and control in a manufacturing organization, using Anammico in Enugu as a case study. The effective planning and control of purchasing activities play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and efficiency of manufacturing processes. The study employs a qualitative research approach, utilizing interviews, surveys, and document analysis to gather data. The findings reveal that purchasing planning and control significantly influence the overall performance of the manufacturing organization. Proper planning helps in determining the types and quantities of raw materials needed, as well as establishing relationships with suppliers for timely delivery. Moreover, effective control mechanisms ensure that the resources are utilized optimally, reducing wastage and delays in the production process. The study also highlights the importance of communication and information sharing between the purchasing department and other functional areas within the organization. The research identifies various challenges faced by Anammico in Enugu in the purchasing planning and control process, including supplier reliability, fluctuating market prices, and inventory management issues. It recommends strategies such as supplier relationship management, inventory optimization, and the use of technology for better planning and control. Overall, the study underscores the critical role of purchasing planning and control in the success of manufacturing organizations.
