Abstract
The advent of e-government initiatives has transformed the way governments interact with citizens and deliver services. This research study explores the impact of e-government initiatives on citizen engagement and service delivery in local governments. The study aims to investigate the effectiveness of e-government platforms in enhancing citizen engagement and improving service delivery in local government settings. The research methodology employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with key stakeholders in local governments. The study sample consisted of citizens, government officials, and IT professionals involved in e-government implementation. The findings of the study revealed that e-government initiatives have significantly improved citizen engagement by providing greater access to government information, services, and decision-making processes. Citizens reported higher levels of satisfaction with the ease of accessing government services online and engaging with government officials through digital platforms. Furthermore, the study identified several challenges and limitations faced by local governments in implementing e-government initiatives, including issues related to digital literacy, internet connectivity, and data security. Recommendations were provided to address these challenges and enhance the effectiveness of e-government initiatives in local government settings. Overall, this research contributes to the existing literature on e-government by providing empirical evidence of the impact of e-government initiatives on citizen engagement and service delivery in local governments. The findings of this study have important implications for policymakers, government officials, and IT professionals involved in e-government implementation, highlighting the potential benefits and challenges of leveraging digital technologies to enhance citizen-government interactions and improve service delivery.
