Abstract
Digital transformation is reshaping the way governments deliver services to citizens, promising enhanced efficiency, transparency, and accessibility. This thesis investigates the impact of digital transformation on government service delivery, with a specific focus on XYZ City as a case study. The study aims to explore how the adoption of digital technologies has influenced service delivery in the city, identify challenges faced, and assess the overall effectiveness of digital transformation initiatives. The research methodology employed in this study includes a comprehensive literature review to provide a theoretical foundation for understanding digital transformation in the public sector. Data collection techniques such as surveys, interviews, and document analysis are utilized to gather insights from government officials, employees, and citizens in XYZ City. The findings of the study reveal that digital transformation has led to significant improvements in government service delivery in XYZ City, including streamlined processes, increased access to services, and enhanced citizen engagement. However, challenges such as digital divide, cybersecurity threats, and resistance to change are identified as barriers to the full realization of the benefits of digital transformation. Through a detailed analysis of the findings, the thesis offers recommendations for policymakers and government officials to overcome these challenges and leverage digital technologies more effectively to improve service delivery. The study underscores the importance of continuous innovation, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement in ensuring the success of digital transformation initiatives in the public sector. Overall, this thesis contributes to the existing literature on digital transformation in government by providing insights into its impact on service delivery at the local level. The findings and recommendations presented in this study can inform decision-making processes and guide future initiatives aimed at harnessing the full potential of digital technologies to enhance government services and better serve the needs of citizens.
