This thesis explores the application of technology to enhance citizen engagement in local government decision-making processes. In recent years, there has been a growing emphasis on the importance of involving citizens in governance to ensure transparency, accountability, and responsiveness. However, traditional methods of citizen engagement often fall short in terms of reach, inclusivity, and effectiveness. This research aims to address these challenges by leveraging technology to create more accessible and interactive platforms for citizen participation. The study begins with an examination of the current state of citizen engagement in local government, highlighting the limitations and opportunities for improvement. It then delves into the theoretical background of technology-enabled citizen engagement, drawing on concepts from public administration, political science, and information technology.
