The rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies present numerous ethical challenges that have far-reaching implications for society. This thesis delves into the ethical considerations surrounding AI development and deployment, with a focus on understanding the moral implications of AI technologies. The primary objective of this study is to critically examine the ethical dimensions of AI and shed light on the potential ethical dilemmas that arise from the increasing integration of AI systems into various aspects of human life. The first chapter provides an introduction to the topic, outlining the background of the study, stating the problem statement, setting the objectives, discussing the limitations and scope of the study, highlighting the significance of the research, and presenting the structure of the thesis. Additionally, key terms relevant to the study are defined to provide clarity and understanding of the concepts discussed throughout the thesis. Chapter two consists of a comprehensive literature review that explores existing research and scholarly works related to the ethics of AI. The review covers ten key areas, including ethical frameworks for AI development, the impact of AI on employment and society, AI bias and discrimination, privacy concerns, accountability and transparency in AI decision-making, the role of regulation and governance in AI ethics, ethical considerations in AI research and development, AI and healthcare ethics, AI and autonomous weapons, and the ethical implications of AI in autonomous vehicles.
