Abstract
This thesis presents the research conducted on the development and evaluation of novel drug delivery systems for targeted cancer therapy. Cancer remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally, necessitating the exploration of innovative approaches to enhance treatment efficacy while minimizing adverse effects. The focus of this study was to design drug delivery systems that can specifically target cancer cells, thereby improving therapeutic outcomes and reducing systemic toxicity. The introduction provides a comprehensive overview of the background of the study, outlining the current challenges in cancer therapy, the significance of targeted drug delivery systems, and the objectives of the research. The study aims to address the limitations of conventional cancer treatments by developing novel drug delivery systems with enhanced targeting capabilities. The literature review critically examines existing research on drug delivery systems for cancer therapy, highlighting the importance of targeted drug delivery in improving treatment efficacy and patient outcomes. Key concepts such as nanomedicine, liposomes, nanoparticles, and antibody-drug conjugates are discussed in relation to their potential applications in targeted cancer therapy. The research methodology section outlines the experimental approach taken to develop and evaluate novel drug delivery systems. Various techniques such as nanoparticle synthesis, drug encapsulation, in vitro cell culture studies, and pharmacokinetic analysis are employed to assess the efficacy and specificity of the drug delivery systems. The discussion of findings chapter presents the results of the experiments conducted, including the characterization of the developed drug delivery systems, their in vitro and in vivo performance, and their potential for clinical translation. The findings demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the novel drug delivery systems in targeting cancer cells and delivering therapeutic agents with precision. In conclusion, this thesis underscores the importance of targeted drug delivery systems in advancing cancer therapy and improving patient outcomes. The development of novel drug delivery platforms holds great promise for enhancing the efficacy of anticancer agents while minimizing off-target effects.
