Abstract
The treatment of cancer remains a significant challenge in the field of medicine, with conventional chemotherapy often associated with severe side effects due to non-specific targeting of healthy cells. The development of novel drug delivery systems for targeted cancer therapy has emerged as a promising approach to enhance the efficacy and reduce the toxicity of anticancer drugs. This thesis focuses on the design and evaluation of a novel drug delivery system for targeted cancer therapy, with a specific emphasis on addressing the limitations of current treatment modalities. Chapter one provides an introduction to the research topic, including the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of terms. The literature review in chapter two explores ten key aspects related to drug delivery systems, cancer therapy, targeted drug delivery, nanoparticles, and other relevant topics to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current state of the field. Chapter three outlines the research methodology employed in this study, including the selection of materials, fabrication techniques, in vitro and in vivo evaluation methods, and data analysis procedures. The discussion of findings in chapter four presents a detailed analysis of the results obtained from the experimental studies, highlighting the effectiveness and specificity of the developed drug delivery system in targeting cancer cells while minimizing off-target effects. The conclusion and summary in chapter five provide a comprehensive overview of the key findings, implications of the study, limitations, future research directions, and the potential impact of the developed drug delivery system on the field of cancer therapy. Overall, this thesis contributes to the advancement of targeted cancer therapy by introducing a novel drug delivery system that shows promise in improving treatment outcomes and reducing adverse effects associated with conventional chemotherapy.
