Abstract
Chronic pain is a widespread health issue that affects millions of individuals globally, leading to significant physical, emotional, and economic burdens. Traditional pharmacological treatments for chronic pain often come with adverse side effects and limited long-term efficacy. In recent years, there has been growing interest in exploring alternative therapies, such as herbal medicine, for managing chronic pain. This thesis aims to investigate the potential therapeutic effects of herbal medicine in treating chronic pain through a comparative study. The study will involve a comprehensive literature review to examine the existing evidence on the efficacy of various herbal remedies in alleviating chronic pain. Ten key herbal medicines commonly used for pain management will be identified and analyzed in terms of their pharmacological properties, mechanisms of action, and clinical effectiveness. The review will also explore potential interactions with conventional pain medications and highlight any safety concerns associated with herbal remedies. Following the literature review, the research methodology section will outline the study design, participant selection criteria, data collection methods, and statistical analyses to be employed. The research will involve a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of selected herbal medicines in managing chronic pain, with a focus on pain intensity, frequency, and quality of life improvements. The study will also assess patient satisfaction, adherence to treatment regimens, and any reported adverse events associated with herbal medicine use. The findings from the study will be discussed in detail in the results and discussion chapter, highlighting the comparative efficacy of different herbal medicines in treating chronic pain. The implications of the study results for clinical practice, patient care, and future research directions will be thoroughly examined. Potential limitations of the study, such as sample size constraints, methodological challenges, and generalizability of findings, will also be discussed. In conclusion, this thesis aims to contribute to the growing body of evidence supporting the use of herbal medicine as a viable treatment option for chronic pain management. By conducting a comparative study of various herbal remedies, this research seeks to provide valuable insights into the potential therapeutic effects of herbal medicine in alleviating chronic pain and improving patient outcomes.
