Abstract
The treatment of cancer has been a challenging endeavor due to the complexity and heterogeneity of the disease. Conventional cancer therapies, such as chemotherapy and radiation, often lack specificity and can cause significant adverse effects on healthy tissues. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in developing novel drug delivery systems that can target cancer cells specifically while minimizing systemic toxicity. This thesis focuses on the development of such innovative drug delivery systems for targeted cancer therapy. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the research topic, outlining the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. The literature review in Chapter 2 explores ten key areas related to drug delivery systems for cancer therapy, including targeting strategies, nanotechnology, biomaterials, and immunotherapy. Chapter 3 describes the research methodology employed in this study, covering topics such as the selection of drug candidates, formulation of drug delivery systems, in vitro and in vivo evaluation methods, and data analysis techniques. The results of the research are presented in Chapter 4, which includes a detailed discussion of the findings, analysis of experimental data, and comparison with existing literature. The findings of this study demonstrate the potential of novel drug delivery systems in improving the efficacy and safety of cancer therapy. By targeting specific molecular markers on cancer cells, these systems can enhance drug accumulation at the tumor site while reducing off-target effects. The use of nanotechnology and biomaterials allows for precise control over drug release kinetics and pharmacokinetics, leading to improved therapeutic outcomes. In conclusion, this thesis highlights the importance of developing innovative drug delivery systems for targeted cancer therapy. The findings of this research contribute to the growing body of knowledge in the field of cancer drug delivery and pave the way for the development of more effective and personalized treatment strategies. Future research directions include further optimization of drug delivery systems, clinical translation, and integration with other therapeutic modalities to address the challenges associated with cancer treatment.
