Abstract
Enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques play a crucial role in maximizing hydrocarbon production from mature oil fields. This thesis focuses on the optimization of EOR techniques for mature oil fields to improve oil recovery efficiency and extend the economic life of the reservoirs. The study investigates various EOR methods, including thermal, chemical, and gas injection techniques, and aims to identify the most suitable approach for enhancing oil recovery in mature fields. The research begins with a comprehensive review of existing literature on EOR techniques, highlighting the key challenges and opportunities associated with their application in mature oil fields. The study then presents a detailed methodology for evaluating and optimizing EOR techniques, considering factors such as reservoir characteristics, fluid properties, and operational constraints. Chapter 3 outlines the research methodology, which includes data collection, reservoir simulation, sensitivity analysis, and optimization techniques. The methodology incorporates both numerical simulations and field case studies to provide a holistic understanding of the factors influencing the performance of EOR techniques in mature oil fields. Chapter 4 presents the findings of the study, including the performance evaluation of different EOR methods in mature oil fields. The results highlight the impact of reservoir heterogeneity, fluid properties, and operational parameters on the effectiveness of EOR techniques. The chapter also discusses the optimization strategies employed to enhance oil recovery efficiency and maximize production from mature oil fields.
