Abstract
This thesis investigates the level of parental knowledge and practice regarding childhood immunizations in a rural community. The study aims to identify gaps in understanding and implementation of immunization schedules among parents living in rural areas and explore the factors influencing their decisions related to childhood vaccinations. A mixed-methods approach was utilized, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive data. The research revealed that while a majority of parents in the rural community were aware of the importance of childhood immunizations, there were significant discrepancies in their knowledge levels and adherence to recommended vaccination schedules. Factors such as lack of access to healthcare facilities, misinformation, and cultural beliefs emerged as key barriers to optimal immunization practices. The findings underscore the critical need for targeted educational interventions and improved healthcare services in rural communities to enhance parental awareness and compliance with childhood immunization programs. This study contributes valuable insights to public health efforts aimed at promoting vaccination uptake and preventing vaccine-preventable diseases in rural populations.

By identifying these factors, the research aims to provide insights into potential barriers and challenges faced by parents in accessing and utilizing immunization services for their children. By collecting and analyzing data on parental knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors towards childhood immunizations, the research seeks to identify gaps in understanding and areas for improvement in immunization education and promotion efforts. Through a combination of surveys, interviews, and data analysis, this research project will generate valuable insights into the factors influencing parental decision-making regarding childhood immunizations in a rural setting. The findings of the study can inform the development of targeted interventions and strategies to enhance immunization awareness, uptake, and compliance among parents in the community. Ultimately, the goal of this research is to contribute to improving childhood immunization rates and promoting better health outcomes for children in rural areas.
