Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This thesis presents the development of an Interactive Virtual Reality (VR) Platform for Stroke Rehabilitation. Stroke is a major cause of long-term disability worldwide, impacting millions of individuals and presenting significant challenges in the rehabilitation process. Traditional rehabilitation methods have limitations in providing engaging and personalized therapy for stroke survivors. Virtual Reality technology has emerged as a promising tool to enhance stroke rehabilitation by providing immersive and interactive environments for therapeutic interventions. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the research topic, highlighting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of terms. The need for innovative approaches to stroke rehabilitation is discussed, emphasizing the potential of VR technology to address existing challenges in traditional rehabilitation methods. Chapter 2 presents a comprehensive literature review on stroke rehabilitation, Virtual Reality technology applications in healthcare, and existing VR platforms for rehabilitation. The review identifies gaps in current research and highlights the benefits of using VR in stroke rehabilitation, such as increased engagement, motivation, and personalization of therapy. Chapter 3 outlines the research methodology employed in developing the Interactive VR Platform for Stroke Rehabilitation. The methodology includes the design process, software and hardware requirements, data collection methods, user testing procedures, and evaluation criteria. The chapter also discusses ethical considerations in conducting research involving human participants. Chapter 4 presents the findings of the study, including the design and development process of the Interactive VR Platform, user feedback, and performance evaluation results. The chapter discusses the effectiveness of the VR platform in improving motor function, cognitive skills, and overall quality of life for stroke survivors. Challenges encountered during the development process are also addressed, along with potential areas for future research. Chapter 5 concludes the thesis by summarizing the key findings, implications of the research, and recommendations for future work. The study demonstrates the potential of Interactive VR technology in enhancing stroke rehabilitation outcomes and improving the overall well-being of stroke survivors. The thesis contributes to the growing body of knowledge on innovative technologies for healthcare and underscores the importance of personalized and engaging interventions in stroke rehabilitation. Keywords Stroke Rehabilitation, Virtual Reality, Interactive Platform, Healthcare Technology, Rehabilitation Outcomes.
