Abstract
Water scarcity is a critical global issue that affects millions of people worldwide, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions. Desalination technologies have emerged as a sustainable solution to address water scarcity by converting seawater or brackish water into potable water. However, traditional desalination processes are energy-intensive and often rely on fossil fuels, contributing to environmental degradation and greenhouse gas emissions. In this context, the design and optimization of a solar-powered water desalination system present a promising approach to produce clean water sustainably using renewable energy sources. This thesis focuses on the design and optimization of a solar-powered water desalination system to enhance water production efficiency and environmental sustainability. The research methodology involves a comprehensive literature review to analyze existing desalination technologies, solar energy systems, and optimization techniques.
