This thesis explores the influence of social media on the evolution of language, focusing on the case study of English. In recent years, the proliferation of social media platforms has transformed the way individuals communicate and interact with one another, leading to significant changes in language use and linguistic norms. The study aims to investigate how social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat have reshaped the English language through the creation of new words, phrases, and communication styles. The research begins with an examination of the background of the study, providing a comprehensive overview of the rise of social media and its impact on language evolution. The problem statement highlights the need to understand the linguistic changes brought about by social media and their implications for communication in the digital age. The objectives of the study are to analyze the linguistic innovations that have emerged on social media platforms, identify the factors driving language change in this context, and assess the implications of these changes for language users. Despite the potential insights to be gained from this study, there are certain limitations that must be acknowledged.
