The advent of social media platforms has revolutionized the way people communicate, interact, and express themselves in the digital age. This thesis explores the influence of social media on language evolution and change, examining how these online platforms have reshaped linguistic norms, practices, and behaviors. Through a comprehensive literature review, this study investigates the impact of social media on language use, focusing on linguistic innovations, adaptations, and transformations that have emerged in online communication. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. The chapter sets the foundation for understanding the role of social media in shaping language dynamics. Chapter Two offers a detailed literature review comprising ten key areas related to the influence of social media on language evolution and change. It examines previous research, theories, and studies that have explored the relationship between social media and linguistic practices, highlighting the significant findings and contributions in this field. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology employed in this study, detailing the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, and ethical considerations. It includes eight sub-sections that provide a comprehensive overview of the research approach utilized to investigate the research questions and objectives.
