This thesis explores the intricate phenomenon of code-switching among multilingual speakers in urban environments, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of the patterns, motivations, and implications of this linguistic practice. Code-switching, defined as the alternation between two or more languages within a single discourse, is a common feature of multilingual communities and reflects the complex interplay of linguistic, social, and cultural factors. This research project employs a qualitative approach to investigate code-switching practices among multilingual speakers in urban settings, focusing on the factors influencing code-switching choices, the structural patterns of code-switching, and the sociolinguistic functions of code-switching in communication. Chapter One sets the stage for the study, presenting the background of the research, defining the problem statement, outlining the objectives of the study, discussing the limitations and scope of the research, highlighting the significance of the study, and providing an overview of the structure of the thesis.
