Abstract
This research project delves into the intricate relationship between criminality and poor leadership at all levels of governance, as depicted in Kaine Agary's novel "Yellow-Yellow." The study explores how the novel portrays the pervasive influence of corruption, impunity, and a lack of accountability within the political, social, and economic systems of Nigeria. Through a close reading of the text, the research examines how the characters in "Yellow-Yellow" navigate a society rife with corruption and how their actions reflect the larger societal issues stemming from poor leadership. The research project employs a qualitative approach, utilizing literary analysis to dissect the themes and narratives presented in the novel. By analyzing the characters' experiences, motivations, and interactions, the study aims to uncover the underlying causes and consequences of criminality within the context of ineffective governance. Furthermore, the project seeks to draw parallels between the fictional world of "Yellow-Yellow" and real-life scenarios of corruption and poor leadership in Nigeria and beyond.
