The advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies has significantly transformed various sectors, including libraries and information science. This thesis explores the impact of AI on library services and information retrieval, focusing on how AI technologies have influenced the way libraries manage their collections, provide services to users, and retrieve information efficiently. The research delves into the benefits and challenges associated with the integration of AI in library operations and highlights the implications for librarians, information professionals, and library users. The study begins with an introduction that provides an overview of the research topic and sets the context for investigating the impact of AI on library services and information retrieval. The background of the study establishes the foundation for understanding the evolution of AI technologies and their applications in libraries. The problem statement identifies the gaps and challenges that necessitate this research, while the objectives of the study outline the specific goals and aims to be achieved. The limitations of the study and its scope are also defined to clarify the boundaries and constraints of the research. The significance of the study underscores the importance of exploring the impact of AI on library services in the digital age. In Chapter Two, the literature review critically examines existing research and scholarly works related to AI in libraries and information science. The review covers ten key themes, including AI applications in library cataloging, user services, information retrieval systems, natural language processing, machine learning, data analytics, recommendation systems, digital preservation, knowledge management, and user experience enhancement. By synthesizing and analyzing these literature sources, the study provides a comprehensive understanding of the current state of AI adoption in libraries and identifies gaps for further investigation. Chapter Three details the research methodology employed in this study to investigate the impact of AI on library services and information retrieval. The methodology includes eight key components, such as research design, data collection methods, sample selection, data analysis techniques, ethical considerations, and validity and reliability measures.
