Abstract
The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in library services presents significant opportunities for improving information access, user experience, and operational efficiency. This thesis explores the application of AI in enhancing library services through a case study approach. The research investigates how AI tools and techniques can be leveraged to address the evolving needs of library users and staff, ultimately leading to a more effective and user-centric library environment. The study begins by providing an overview of the background of AI in library services, highlighting the growing interest and adoption of AI technologies in the library sector. It identifies the problem statement related to the challenges faced by libraries in meeting user expectations and adapting to the digital age. The objectives of the study are outlined to investigate the potential benefits, challenges, and implications of integrating AI in library services. A comprehensive literature review is conducted to explore existing research, case studies, and best practices related to AI applications in libraries. The review covers ten key areas, including AI technologies in information retrieval, user recommendation systems, natural language processing, and data analytics in library settings. The synthesis of literature provides insights into the current state of AI implementation in libraries and identifies gaps for further exploration. The research methodology section outlines the approach and methods used in this study, including data collection, analysis techniques, and case study design. The methodology incorporates both qualitative and quantitative research methods to gather and analyze data on the implementation of AI in a selected library setting. Eight key components are discussed in detail, including the research design, data collection processes, sampling techniques, and data analysis methods. The findings of the study are presented in Chapter Four, which offers a detailed discussion of the outcomes, insights, and implications of implementing AI in library services. The discussion covers the impact of AI on information access, personalized services, staff workflow, and user engagement in the case study library. The findings highlight the benefits and challenges of AI integration and provide recommendations for future implementation strategies. In conclusion, this thesis summarizes the key findings, implications, and contributions of the study in utilizing AI for enhancing library services. The research underscores the importance of embracing AI technologies to meet the evolving needs of library users and improve service delivery. The study contributes to the growing body of literature on AI applications in libraries and offers practical insights for libraries seeking to adopt AI technologies successfully.
