Abstract
Artwork display in academic libraries can serve as a powerful tool to promote spirituality and support liberal arts and humanities among students and faculty. This research project investigates the impact of art exhibitions in academic libraries on individuals' spiritual well-being and their engagement with liberal arts and humanities disciplines. The integration of art within the library setting creates a unique environment that fosters contemplation, reflection, and intellectual curiosity. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews to gather data on participants' experiences with art displays in academic libraries. Quantitative data will be collected through surveys assessing participants' perceptions of spirituality, interest in liberal arts and humanities, and the influence of art on their emotional well-being. Qualitative interviews will provide in-depth insights into how individuals interact with the artworks, the meanings they derive from them, and the ways in which art enhances their academic experiences. Findings from this research aim to contribute to the understanding of the role of art in academic libraries in promoting spirituality and supporting liberal arts and humanities education. By exploring the impact of art on individuals' spiritual and intellectual development, this study seeks to highlight the importance of incorporating artistic elements within educational spaces. The results will inform library administrators, educators, and artists on how to enhance the educational environment through meaningful art displays that inspire contemplation, creativity, and critical thinking. The theoretical framework of this research draws on concepts of spirituality, aesthetics, and the humanities to provide a comprehensive analysis of the intersection between art, education, and personal growth. By examining how art can evoke spiritual experiences, provoke thought, and deepen individuals' engagement with the humanities, this study sheds light on the transformative power of visual culture in academic settings. Overall, this research project explores the potential of art exhibitions in academic libraries to enrich the educational experience, stimulate intellectual inquiry, and nurture individuals' spiritual and emotional well-being. By examining the multifaceted benefits of art displays, this study advocates for the integration of artistic practices within academic environments to cultivate a holistic approach to education and personal development.
