Small and medium-sized libraries, including academic, public, and special libraries, face unique challenges in acquiring and managing core digital resources to meet the needs of their patrons. This research project aims to identify and evaluate essential digital resources that can enhance the services offered by these libraries. By examining the current landscape of digital resources available to small and medium-sized libraries, the study will provide insights into the best practices for selecting, acquiring, and utilizing these resources effectively. The research will involve a comprehensive review of the existing literature on digital resources for libraries, focusing on the specific needs and constraints faced by smaller libraries. By synthesizing the findings from previous studies, the project will develop a framework for assessing the suitability of various digital resources for different types of libraries. This framework will take into account factors such as cost, user interface, content relevance, and technical support, among others. In addition to the literature review, the research will also include case studies of small and medium-sized libraries that have successfully integrated core digital resources into their collections and services. These case studies will provide valuable insights into the practical considerations involved in selecting and implementing digital resources, as well as the benefits and challenges associated with their use. Through a combination of literature review and case studies, the research aims to create a comprehensive guide for small and medium-sized libraries seeking to enhance their digital collections and services. The guide will offer practical recommendations for identifying core digital resources that align with the libraries' missions and user needs, as well as strategies for overcoming common barriers to resource acquisition and implementation. Ultimately, this research project seeks to empower small and medium-sized libraries to make informed decisions about their digital resource investments and to leverage these resources to better serve their patrons.
