Abstract
Small and medium-sized libraries, including academic, public, and special libraries, play a crucial role in providing access to information and resources for their users. In today's digital age, these libraries face unique challenges in managing and providing access to digital resources efficiently. This research project aims to identify and analyze core digital resources essential for small and medium-sized libraries to serve their users effectively. The study explores the different types of digital resources that are essential for small and medium-sized libraries, taking into consideration their diverse user needs and resource constraints. By examining the specific requirements of academic, public, and special libraries, the research aims to provide insights into the core digital resources that are most beneficial for each type of library. Furthermore, the project investigates the challenges faced by small and medium-sized libraries in acquiring, managing, and providing access to digital resources. Issues such as budget constraints, limited technical expertise, and evolving user expectations are examined to understand the barriers that libraries encounter in optimizing their digital resources. Through a comprehensive literature review and data analysis, the research identifies best practices and strategies for selecting, acquiring, and managing core digital resources in small and medium-sized libraries. The study also explores the role of partnerships and collaborations in enhancing access to digital resources for these libraries, considering the potential benefits of shared resources and expertise. Moreover, the research project aims to provide practical recommendations and guidelines for small and medium-sized libraries to enhance their digital resource management practices. By highlighting the importance of assessing user needs, evaluating resource usage, and staying informed about emerging technologies, the study offers actionable insights for improving the effectiveness of digital resource provision in libraries.
