Abstract
This thesis investigates the impact of information literacy instruction on student research skills within academic libraries. With the increasing reliance on information resources for academic success, the ability of students to effectively locate, evaluate, and utilize information has become essential. The study aims to explore how information literacy instruction influences student research skills and to identify the factors that contribute to its effectiveness in academic library settings. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the research topic, outlining the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. The literature review in Chapter 2 examines existing studies on information literacy instruction and its impact on student research skills. Ten key themes emerge from the literature, shedding light on the various approaches, challenges, and outcomes associated with information literacy instruction in academic libraries. Chapter 3 details the research methodology employed in this study, including the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, and data analysis procedures. The chapter also discusses ethical considerations and limitations of the research approach. Chapter 4 presents a comprehensive discussion of the findings, highlighting the key factors that influence the effectiveness of information literacy instruction on student research skills.
