Thesis Abstract

Oil spillage is a major environmental issue that poses a significant threat to human rights and environmental laws. The release of oil into the environment can lead to severe ecological damage, including water pollution, soil contamination, and harm to wildlife. These consequences have far-reaching impacts on human health, livelihoods, and overall well-being. This research project seeks to explore the intersection between oil spillage, environmental degradation, human rights, and environmental law. By examining case studies, regulatory frameworks, and legal precedents, this study aims to shed light on the failures and shortcomings of existing regulations in preventing and addressing oil spill incidents. Additionally, the research will analyze the responses of governments, corporations, and civil society organizations to oil spillage and their compliance with international human rights and environmental standards. The findings of this research will contribute to the growing body of knowledge on the relationship between oil spillage and environmental degradation as a violation of human rights and environmental laws. By highlighting the negative impacts of oil spills on ecosystems, communities, and future generations, this study aims to raise awareness about the urgent need for stronger regulatory mechanisms and enforcement measures to prevent and mitigate oil spill incidents. Ultimately, this research project seeks to advocate for the protection of human rights and the environment in the face of oil spillage. By calling attention to the legal and ethical responsibilities of all stakeholders involved in the oil industry, including governments, corporations, and individuals, this study aims to promote accountability, transparency, and sustainable practices that prioritize the well-being of both people and the planet. In conclusion, oil spillage represents a critical challenge to human rights and environmental laws. Addressing this issue requires a multifaceted approach that combines legal, regulatory, and ethical considerations to prevent further harm to the environment and ensure the protection of human rights. This research project aims to contribute to this important discourse by offering insights and recommendations for policymakers, industry actors, and civil society organizations to work together towards a more sustainable and just future.
