Abstract
This thesis investigates the Assessment of Sustainable Agricultural Practices for Small-Scale Farmers in Rural Communities. The study aims to analyze the current agricultural practices being employed by small-scale farmers in rural communities and assess their sustainability in terms of economic, social, and environmental factors. The research methodology employed a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data from small-scale farmers in selected rural communities. Chapter One provides an introduction to the study, outlining the background, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance of the study, and defining key terms related to sustainable agricultural practices and rural communities. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review that examines existing research on sustainable agricultural practices, small-scale farming, and rural development. The review highlights the importance of sustainable agriculture in enhancing food security, promoting environmental conservation, and improving livelihoods in rural areas. Chapter Three details the research methodology, including the sampling strategy, data collection methods, and data analysis techniques. The chapter also discusses ethical considerations and limitations faced during the research process. Chapter Four presents the findings of the study, analyzing the current agricultural practices of small-scale farmers and evaluating their sustainability. The chapter explores the challenges faced by farmers in adopting sustainable practices and identifies potential strategies to promote sustainable agriculture in rural communities. The concluding Chapter Five summarizes the key findings of the study and offers recommendations for policymakers, agricultural extension services, and rural development organizations to support small-scale farmers in adopting sustainable agricultural practices. The study contributes to the existing literature on sustainable agriculture and rural development by providing insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by small-scale farmers in rural communities.
