Abstract
This thesis investigates the impact of sustainable farming practices on rural household income and food security. The study aims to address the growing concern over the sustainability of food production systems and the well-being of rural communities. The research is guided by the central question How do sustainable farming practices contribute to enhancing rural household income and ensuring food security? The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data analysis and qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive insights into the subject matter. The first chapter provides an introduction to the research topic, outlining the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definitions of key terms. The second chapter presents a detailed literature review covering ten key aspects related to sustainable farming practices, rural household income, and food security. The review synthesizes existing knowledge and identifies research gaps that the current study seeks to address. Chapter three focuses on the research methodology employed in the study. It includes sections on research design, sampling techniques, data collection methods, data analysis procedures, ethical considerations, and limitations of the methodology.
